Butterfly Metamorphosis Paper Roll Craft

Butterfly Metamorphosis Toilet Paper Roll and Felt Craft
We had a hoard of caterpillars eating up our cherry tree that spring. Also, we were raising tadpoles. So, in keeping with the theme of metamorphosis, I created a simple toilet paper roll and felt caterpillar and butterfly. It is made using pipe cleaners, pom poms, felt and googly eyes. Aleene’s Tacky Glue was used when needed.

Metamorphosis Interactive Felt Book – Frog and Butterfly (Raising Tadpoles)

p1210060We are currently raising tadpoles again. Last year, the first year of our science, I created a No-Sew frog and butterfly metamorphosis quiet book. I also made some craft foam bath toys and used permanent markers to draw the images on them. I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue to glue the felt together.  I hope you get inspired too!

To keep with theme of metamorphosis, as at the time we had caterpillars everywhere outside and were raising tadpoles inside, I created this Very Hungry Caterpillar Felt Quiet book. It was also a nice subliminal way of teaching the days of the week and how many days were in a week. I simply used Aleene’s Tacky Glue to glue the felt together. The images were found online, printed, and applied to the felt using carpet tape. The caterpillar and butterfly are movable pieces.

The 4 Seasons Craft Foam Bath Toy

p1130145

In conjunction with our nature classes, I created the 4 seasons craft foam bath toy. The amazing thing about craft foam is that when you wet it it sticks to smooth surfaces. The drawback with this toy, I made the pieces much too small. If you decide to make something similar, make large pieces and only make a few! Just for fun, some other homemade craft foam bath toy pictures are included.
